WHY JUNODI? From the Inventor of JUNODI, Robert C. Bessette First,
what is JUNODI? JUNODI is a computerized system of strobe lights, with
audio, spaced out, on, or along any training setup to simulate the
helpful guidance and motivation of his/her coach. Each light is as
if a coach or parent is right there providing the athlete with “real-time-feedback” (RTF),
by way of the strobe light and audio Why JUNODI? JUNODI is changing coaching from an art to a science. JUNODI makes training fun. JUNODI limits standing around time. JUNODI gives the coach the power of X. JUNODI makes training a spectator sport. JUNODI gives the coach an innovative means to change an athlete's workout in tiny increments that are below an athlete's threshold of “JUST NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE”. * JUNODI can be a life changing experience.
As a 14 year old I found myself homeless in Jacksonville, Florida. Can anyone who has never been there feel, or even understand what that does to a young man's self-esteem? After a time I ended up in court facing a Judge who gave me the choice of reform school or going to New England to live with my Grandmother as my legal guardian. Within a couple of days I was being enrolled at Hope High School in Providence, R.I. I started those first days, shy, unknown, insecure and totally lacking in self-esteem. At one of my first gym classes the instructor approached me and asked if I had any track training. “Oh sure” I responded, (of course I had none). Subsequently I ended up at track practice. The coach, Mr. Russell decided I was a distance runner and put me in the mile run. During my first mile race I was leading (by far too many yards I soon discovered) at the halfway point. I ended up dead last. For whatever reason Coach Russell took me under his wing and I started to receive very special training. Coach would spot other runners, at equal intervals, around the track to keep me training at the proper pace. Not too fast and not too slow. (I didn't realize it at the time that I was receiving real-time-feedback training, RTF Training). As a result of this Real-Time-Feedback training I ended up that track season the City Champion in the mile and earned my letter in track. Subsequently I became a legitimate member of the Hope High School Jock Club. I even dated a Cheer Leader and was invited to many of my fellow students off campus activities and homes. That experience has shaped my life to this day. I am proud to say my newly gained self-confidence got me into training pilots for our USAF. After my Air Force tour I was accepted at the University of Florida. I conducted graduate research in RTF training, was named Engineering Student of the year after winning First Place in the University Engineer's fair that year. After leaving graduate school I kept up my research with four years at Occidental College in L.A., followed by three years at the University of Arizona. I retired from a 40year career in Aerospace, starting as a systems engineer and progressing through many executive levels to, at one time, serving as the Vice President of Marketing at the world's largest Avionic Company. The turning point in my life was the real time feedback training I received from Coach Russell at Hope High School some 40 odd years prior. Other than my family and my faith I have dedicated my life to developing practical RTF Training. My hope is that many, many, perhaps thousands of young athletes might have similar experiences to develop their confidence, their self-esteem, and their potential to the fullest. All from the individual attention made possible from coaches using JUNODI training.
